Robin Wood Tarot

The images on the Robin Wood Tarot Cards are based on the Rider-Waite deck. Artist and deck designer Robin Wood worked on these cards for nearly a decade. Her goal was to create a deck that presented traditional tarot symbolism in a more current and natural way. The drawings are vivid, colourful and expressive. The people in the deck wear either no clothes, robes or other medieval-style dress.

The Robin Wood Tarot deck is known for its attention to the minor arcana cards. Each one is given its own unique energy and flavour. The instruction booklet by Wood and Michael Short gives upright and reversed meanings for all the cards and three different spreads.

Customer Reviews

Difficult Deck3

I bought this deck as I had seen a few reviews and at first I thought it was lovely and indeed some of the cards are beautiful. The court cards are especially sumptuous. I also adore the take on the 6 swords with the spirit presence guiding.

I call it my American deck because all the characters are so unmistakably well scrubbed American. I dislike the strength card due to the arch expression of the woman's face. The five of swords with that childish grin looks incongruous and hard to take seriously, ditto the Charioteer. The wheel of fortune reminds me of a shampoo ad. Also I find the nudity is unnecessarily graphic especially on the Judgement card. (I am not a prude, I own the Decameron deck!!) Only I like to be able to use my decks (decameron aside) without worry of offending or amusing others who I read for. There is a lot of energy in this deck, which if you are ok with the style would be good, but personally I find it distracting.

A beautiful deck5

This is a beautiful deck, ideal for both beginners and seasoned readers. Highly recommended!

Beautifully creative deck!5

I have bought many oracle decks in the past, always finding them unsatisfactory with their "types" of readings in comparison to tarot.

Because of this, I only own one tarot deck (Celtic themed) and thought I would never buy another since I was so happy with how easy it was to use and how accurate it is. Until I saw this Robin Wood tarot cards deck.

It immediately interested me with its beautifully graphic and imaginative artwork. Once it arrived in the post, I found it to be buzzing with life through its imagery.

I have been using this Robin Wood tarot cards deck almost every day and learning new things all the time. Each card has just the right amount of dreamlike imagery to inspire something in your own mind to come up with the answers in a reading.

One of my overall favourite cards is Death. Funnily enough it is one of the most beautiful representations of the card I've seen in my 5 years as a reader. No skeletons or dead people present at all : )

A highly commendable deck!
